Kudos ...
Leonard Wigglesworth III,  a  junior  at Archbishop Carroll High School, was one of 38 students  who participated in the National Bar Association‘s Crump Law Camp from  July 11-July 24 . The students were selected from a pool of over 1200 applicants.  Participants were housed on the campus of Howard University and attended law school classes at the Howard University’s Law school. The curriculum included guest lectures, field trips, a BMW Teen Driving School and a mock trial competition.  Students who attended the camp were paired with attorneys to serve as mentors as they continue through their high schools, colleges and law schools.

Way to Go ...
Several of St. Paul’s choir members have been busy since spring.  Jonathan Ray and Gloria Turner-Simpkins were in attendance on March 27th as GIS publications presented I Will Bless The Lord a Live Recording from Baltimore at Israel Baptist Church, featuring Composer and Conductor James Abbingdon.

On June 7th, Sisters Carol Gaines and Turner-Simpkins attended and volunteered to participate in Worship and Praise at a city-wide music workshop at St. Matthews Baptist Church in southwest, Washington, DC.  The clinician was Dr. Joan Hillsman.  Gloria also facilitated.   The session ended in high praise as all participants blended their voices singing a song written by Dr. Hillsman featuring Gloria as the soloist.

On June 25th Gloria and a couple of friends made a surprise visit to Syracuse, New York to the People’s AME Zion church as this was the launch service for the newly formed Syracuse Chapter of the Gospel Music Workshop of America (GMWA) initiated by Dr. Hillsman.

Cincinnati was the host city for the annual GMWA convention, July 23—30.  On Monday, in the new music seminar, Gloria was featured as the soloist on Dr. Hillsman’s song.  She also assisted with songs from two California writers, Dansby Sturdivant and Norris Garner and St. Louis’ writer and composer Dello Thedfond.

July 31st – August 5th, Jonathan Ray attended the Tommy Dorsey convention in the host city of Orlando.
